This is my 2D platformer project for the 2nd course in the Game Design and Development with Unity 2020 Specialization from MSU and Coursera. The modifications I made include the following:

  • Level 1 is a tile-for-tile recreation of World 1-1 from the original Super Mario Bros. for the NES using the assets provided (Basic Enemies = Goombas, Tough Enemies = Koopas, Health pickups = super mushrooms, Score pickups = coins, etc.) 
  • Level 2 is a tile-for-tile recreation of World 1-2 from the original Super Mario Bros. for the NES using the assets provided
  • Level 3 is a tile-for-tile recreation of World 1-3 from the original Super Mario Bros. for the NES using the assets provided
  • Recolored the waypoint enemy and established its waypoints to move up and down in a similar pattern to a Paratroopa for Level 3
  • Player speed and jump height were increased to fit the level layout
  • Background music was changed for levels 2 & 3 to fit the theme of each level and provide a diverse soundtrack
  • The instructions tab on the main menu was fleshed out to include information such as a story synopsis & controls
  • The credits tab on the main menu was fleshed out to include my name and special thanks
